💡 Accountant's Note

Fixed-line broadband revenue is recognized monthly as the service is delivered. It is accounted for separately from mobile revenue as it has different cost drivers, churn rates, and margin profiles.

Practitioner & Systems Framework

💻 ERP Architecture

Fixed-line and broadband subscriptions are billed through a fixed-line billing system (which may be separate from or integrated with the mobile CBS). Monthly invoices are generated at billing cycle dates and posted to the AR sub-ledger with revenue recognised simultaneously. Fixed-line revenue is tracked in a separate cost centre and revenue account from mobile. Network costs for fixed-line (local loop, DSLAM, MSAN) are separately depreciated. Churn in fixed-line tends to be lower than mobile — the billing system flags disconnections for revenue cutoff.

⚠️ Audit Flags

Auditors test fixed-line revenue completeness by reconciling the number of active lines at month-end to the billed revenue. Confirm cut-off for lines disconnected mid-month. Test that installation fees for new broadband connections are assessed under IFRS 15 — if they relate to a set-up activity (not a distinct service), they are deferred. Review the fixed-line receivable aging — fixed-line customers tend to be more creditworthy than prepaid mobile, but corporate accounts may have longer payment terms.

📄 Required Documentation
