💡 Accountant's Note

Postpaid revenue is recognized as the service is delivered — one month at a time. The receivable is billed at month-end and typically collected within 30 days.

Practitioner & Systems Framework

💻 ERP Architecture

Postpaid billing is managed through a convergent billing system (CBS) such as Amdocs, Comverse, or Oracle BRM. The CBS generates invoices at month-end based on the customer's plan tariff plus any variable charges (overages, add-ons). The invoice is posted to the AR sub-ledger and the corresponding revenue is recognised in the GL. Revenue feeds are automated from the CBS to the ERP (SAP or Oracle) via a nightly batch. Postpaid revenue is tracked by plan tier, region, and customer segment for management reporting.

⚠️ Audit Flags

Auditors test revenue completeness by reconciling the CBS invoice count and value to the GL revenue posting. Cut-off testing confirms that revenue for services delivered before month-end is included and not deferred. Test that suspended or deactivated lines have no revenue recognised for the suspension period. Confirm that discounts and promotions applied in the CBS are correctly reflected in the revenue line.

📄 Required Documentation

CBS billing run report, GL revenue posting confirmation, subscriber count by plan tier, revenue reconciliation (CBS to GL), discount and promotion register, and suspended subscriber report.
