💡 Accountant's Note

Multi-line family plans are a retention tool — the group discount creates switching cost. Under IFRS 15, each line is a separate performance obligation allocated the same SSP as individual plans.

Practitioner & Systems Framework

💻 ERP Architecture

Family plans are structured in the CBS as a master account (primary subscriber) with multiple dependent lines. Billing is consolidated on the primary subscriber's invoice. Revenue is recognised monthly based on the family plan's total fee, split across each line's performance obligation based on the individual line's SSP. Where the family plan discount is material, the total discount is allocated proportionally across all lines (reducing the effective rate per line). Each line's activation and deactivation is tracked independently in the CBS.

⚠️ Audit Flags

Auditors test the SSP allocation for family plans — the group discount must be proportionally allocated, not arbitrarily assigned. Confirm that when a dependent line is deactivated, only the relevant portion of revenue ceases. Test the churn dynamic — the primary subscriber's churn triggers all dependent lines' disconnection. Verify that the family plan billing is correctly consolidated on the primary subscriber's AR. Review whether family plan subscribers are subject to ETF for the primary line's minimum commitment period.
