Government voucher payments are received via bank transfer and matched to specific student accounts in the SIS AR sub-ledger. The payment reference number (voucher or student ID) allows automatic matching in many SIS platforms. Where automatic matching is not possible, the finance team manually applies the payment to the correct student account. A receivable from the government agency (not the student) may need to be separately tracked if the payment is expected but not yet received at billing date.

Auditors confirm that government voucher receipts are matched to individual student accounts — lump sum payments must be allocated per the government agency's remittance advice. Verify that the institution is eligible to receive funding for each student (enrolment status, programme eligibility). Confirm that any students who withdrew after the government paid their tuition have had the appropriate refund returned to the government agency per the funding agreement.
