💡 Accountant's Note
Re-sit fees compensate the institution for the administrative and faculty cost of re-examining. Revenue is recognized when the student is registered for the re-sit.
Practitioner & Systems Framework
💻 ERP Architecture
Re-sit fees are charged in the SIS when the examination office registers the student for a supplemental examination. The charge triggers automatically upon re-sit registration. Revenue is recognised at the point of registration (not when the exam is sat), as the institution's obligation is to make the exam available — not to guarantee the student's attendance. Where a student registers but does not attend, the fee is generally non-refundable per policy. The examination schedule and results system links to the student account module.
⚠️ Audit Flags
Auditors confirm that re-sit fees are charged consistently for all eligible failed subjects and that no student is registered for a re-sit without the corresponding charge. Test that the fee rate matches the approved schedule. Review any waivers or exemptions — students exempt from re-sit fees (e.g., documented medical cases) should have formal approval on file. Confirm that the fee is not deferred beyond the registration date.
📄 Required Documentation
Re-sit examination registration list, student account charge report, approved fee schedule, waiver/exemption approvals, examination results records confirming eligibility for re-sit, and revenue posting confirmation.
