💡 Accountant's Note
Wire transfer fees are point-in-time service fees recognized when the payment instruction is executed. Under IFRS 15, the performance obligation is fully satisfied when the SWIFT message is sent. Correspondent bank charges may be deducted from the transferred amount (SHA or OUR options).
Practitioner & Systems Framework
💻 ERP Architecture
In Oracle FLEXCUBE FT (Funds Transfer) module, fees are automatically applied per the product's charge definition when the transfer is processed. In SAP, wire fees are handled by the payment processing module. SWIFT MT103 (customer transfer) or MT202 (bank-to-bank transfer) confirms execution.
⚠️ Audit Flags
Auditors check that fees match the approved schedule of charges. Differential fee rates for different customer segments must be documented and approved. AML compliance requires SWIFT transaction monitoring — alerts on unusual wire patterns are reviewed.
📄 Required Documentation
SWIFT MT103/MT202 confirmation, fee billing advice, customer instruction, beneficiary details confirmation, and AML screening clearance.
