💡 Accountant's Note
Savings deposits are interest-bearing demand liabilities. The bank records the inflow as vault cash and increases the deposit liability. Interest accrues separately at the agreed savings rate.
Practitioner & Systems Framework
💻 ERP Architecture
In SAP FS-CD, savings deposit transactions post through the CASA module with product type 'SAV'. In Oracle FLEXCUBE, use the TD/CASA module; the system auto-calculates accrued interest based on the product's interest rate table. Teller journals are auto-generated; manual entry uses T-Code FB50 in SAP FI.
⚠️ Audit Flags
Internal audit checks that interest rates applied match the current product tariff schedule. Regulators flag dormant accounts receiving large deposits. CBJ AML rules require enhanced due diligence for cash deposits exceeding JOD 10,000 in a single transaction.
📄 Required Documentation
Completed deposit slip, teller receipt, account passbook entry or e-statement confirmation, and AML screening clearance for amounts above reporting threshold.
