Call money is an overnight or short-notice interbank placement used to earn a return on excess liquidity. It is classified as a short-term financial asset (amortized cost). Interest accrues daily at the call money rate.
Practitioner & Systems Framework
💻 ERP Architecture
In SAP TRM Money Market module, call money placements are entered as MM deals with overnight tenor. In Oracle FLEXCUBE MM module, 'MMPLACC' transaction manages the placement. The deal renews automatically unless terminated by either party.
⚠️ Audit Flags
Call money placements with related parties (affiliated banks) require arm's-length rates and Board approval. CBJ large exposure limits apply to interbank placements. Auditors verify that call money is correctly classified as 'cash and cash equivalents' or 'short-term investments' depending on the call period.
📄 Required Documentation
