The attrition fee = 30 × (contracted room rate × attrition % per the contract, often 80–90% of the room rate). Attrition revenue is recognized after the group's stay, once the shortfall is confirmed and invoiced. Track attrition separately from room revenue — it is displacement compensation, not earned accommodation revenue.

Auditors verify the attrition calculation against the signed group contract and the actual PMS pick-up report. Groups that were not clearly informed of the attrition clause at contract signing may dispute the charge — legal enforceability is important. Revenue from attrition that is disputed should be deferred until the dispute is resolved.
