For VAT: output VAT is calculated on the actual amount paid by the customer after the discount.
⚠️ Audit Flags
VAT is assessed on the net price paid after the coupon discount — not the pre-discount price. Auditors check that the VAT base is the discounted amount, not the full retail price. If coupons are funded by a third party (e.g., a bank-sponsored promotion), the reimbursement from the bank may be treated as income rather than a discount reversal.
