Note that VAT is assessed on the amount actually paid by the customer (net of the discount), not the full menu price — verify this treatment with your tax advisor as it affects the VAT output amount.
⚠️ Audit Flags
Auditors check whether the VAT base is correctly calculated as the net price paid after discount (not the pre-discount menu price). Coupon promotions where the third-party reimburses the restaurant (e.g., a bank-issued dining discount) require separate accounting — the reimbursement may be revenue, not a reduction in the discount.
