💡 Accountant's Note

Partial repairs are settled directly with authorized garages. The reserve set at FNOL is cleared when the repair invoice is received. Any shortfall or excess goes through claims development.

Practitioner & Systems Framework

💻 ERP Architecture

Network garage repair claims are managed through the direct repair programme (DRP) in the claims system. The garage submits a repair estimate via the insurer's portal or manual process; the claims handler reviews and approves. Upon completion, the final invoice is matched against the approved estimate in the AP module. Any variance between the approved estimate and final invoice above a threshold requires re-approval. Payment is made directly to the garage, not to the insured.

⚠️ Audit Flags

Auditors test that payments are made only to approved network garages on the authorised supplier list. Verify that the repair invoice matches the claims handler's approved estimate — unusually large variances warrant investigation. Check for duplicate repair payments on the same claim. Confirm that the policy excess has been collected from the insured by the garage before the insurer pays the net repair cost. Review the garage payment terms to identify any suppliers receiving preferential treatment.

📄 Required Documentation

Repair estimate approved by claims handler, final repair invoice from the garage, excess collection confirmation (from garage), payment instruction and bank transfer confirmation, and closed claim confirmation in the claims system.
